Holidaze.

November 20, 2017

Time flies.  Just yesterday, we were frolicking on the beach and now it's Christmas, well Thanksgiving actually, same same. The holidays can be a perfect time to check some dining room upgrades off your list.  Here are a few DIY (or taskrabbit/thumbtack/handy husband) projects you can do to give your dining room a quick refresh before the entertaining begins.

Dining Room Redux.

WALLPAPER OR PAINT.  A simple way to add a bit of drama - paint or wallpaper the whole room OR just paint/wallpaper 1 accent wall.  I am into Benjamin Moore Deep Space paint for 1 accent wall and this Kelly Wearstler wallpaper at the moment.

CHANDELIER.  Modernize a room easily with a new chandelier.  I like this one from West Elm. Not expensive and easily updates any space.

ADD ART.  Art can be tricky.  I suggest using 1 really massive piece,  I am really into this Parvez Taj woman swimming piece in the largest size.  Another option is to install a grouping of eclectic pieces on 1 wall.

NEW TABLE. NEW HEAD CHAIRS OR SIDE CHAIRS. Currently obsessed with this table.  But, if you are a baller on a budget - quick fix is to paint or refinish your existing table to give it a new look.  Replacing 2 head chairs or side chairs, also a super easy affordable fix.

Tangerine, tangerine.

Pumpkins aren't your only option when it comes to adding a splash of color to your table.  Use tangerines, apples and some greens for a decorative effect.  Add some shiny candles, keep it simple with a white table cloth or add some interest by adding a colorful one.  I love the use of black, white, orange and tie dye mix in this setting.

Grateful.

I love the idea of giving family and guests a chance to reflect on what they are thankful for before dinner.  Using this hand made placemat is a good way to take a minute to reflect on your blessings, form closer bonds with those at our table, and can help entertain the small ones, hopefully teaching them to be thankful adults one day.
